The Volterra operations team will be performing routine upgrade of the following Volterra Services: VoltMesh, VoltStack, VoltShare and VoltConsole.

During this window, we will execute rolling update of individual Network PoPs and our SaaS portal (VoltConsole). As a result, there may be 3-5 minutes of service interruption of our APIs and customer dashboard. However, customer services and applications will not experience any downtime and continue to be served out of the other Network PoPs. The config propagation into PoPs can be slower during entire window.

In addition, the existing Volterra WAF engine will be migrated to F5’s class-leading Advanced WAF.

As with any core change, the Operations Team is being diligent in efforts to minimize downtime and risk. There will be no downtime of the application expected, and the existing WAF policy will remain in force. Towards the end of the maintenance window, the existing WAF configuration will be replaced with a new App Firewall configuration with default settings in Monitoring mode. Existing WAF exclusion rules, if present, will be removed and will need to be reconfigured manually under the new policy.

Immediately following the upgrade, we highly recommend testing be completed and customers should monitor the new WAF policies and fine tune the configuration as needed.
